MyPoliticalWorld is social platform by politicos for politicos. Whether you are looking to blog, network, or stay up to date on the latest politcal news, MyPoliticalWorld.com has your needs in mind.
MyPoliticalWorld.com was cofounded by two young professionals working in government and their former classmate from high school; the three of them are lifelong DC residents. The site has been under development for a few months and is expected improve over the next few weeks and months.
MyPoliticalWorld.com is an online space for American politics. The website hopes to give the whole spectrum of political junkies and political actors out there a space to congregate, express their ideas, and receive whatever news and information that is important, relevant to them. It is aimed in particular at those who find themselves working in Washington DC in some capacity for the Federal Government, but it is not limited to one geographic region or professional type.
The challenge with starting a social networking site in this day and age when the world is saturated with them is that no one will join something unless others have joined. Our site will overcome this initial hurdle through a customized news feed, that allows the user to design a home page that links directly to anything from the top articles on politico.com to obscure press releases from Senator Chris Dodd's financial committee as well as proprietary material - the Almanac of the Unelected being one example – that can only be accessed through the site.
The site will at the end of the day be dependent on the user and we view our job as simply to give them the best platform to use – one that allows them to organize the universe of information out there clearly, that allows them to communicate their thoughts effectively and to meet other people.
Just as politico.com has emerged to challenge the traditional print newspapers eg Washington Post, New York Times, as the definitive source for news on Campaign 2008, we in our small way hope to challenge, the bigger social networking sites and blogs. The three of us believe firmly that social networking is not something that will go away for the Millenial generation. And we believe that niche sites devoted to certain markets will thrive in the years to come.
